FAQs
Where is Citrin Longevity located?

We are located at 9200 W Sunset Blvd, Suite 170, West Hollywood, CA 90069. We are on Sunset Boulevard, easily accessible from West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and the greater Los Angeles area. Parking is available in the building.

What are your hours of operation?

The clinic is open Monday through Friday. Hours vary by appointment type and machine availability. Call us at (424) 228-8850 or book online and we will find a time that works for your schedule.

Do you accept insurance?

We operate outside of the standard insurance billing system. Most of our services are not covered by insurance, and we do not bill insurance directly. Some lab work may be partially reimbursable depending on your plan, and we can provide documentation to support that process.

Our model allows us to spend significantly more time with each member than a standard insurance-based practice. That time is part of the value.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services. Membership billing is processed automatically on a monthly cycle.

Do you offer telemedicine or virtual consultations?

Yes. Initial consultations and follow-up visits can be conducted via telehealth for qualifying appointments. However, all on-site services, including VASPER, HBOT, red light therapy, IV infusions, sauna, and cold plunge, require an in-person visit. Machine-based protocols cannot be replicated remotely.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice for all cancellations and rescheduled appointments. Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a cancellation fee. Machine sessions and IV appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be forfeited from your monthly allocation.

Is Citrin Longevity right for me if I'm currently healthy?

This is one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer is yes. Most of our members come to us before something goes wrong, not after. The earlier you establish a baseline and understand your biomarkers, the more leverage you have over your long-term health trajectory.

Optimization is not reserved for people who are sick. It is most effective when you start from a position of relative health and build on it systematically.

How is Citrin Longevity different from a regular doctor's office?

A standard medical visit is typically 15 minutes, reactive, and focused on what is visibly wrong. We work differently on every dimension of that.

  • Our visits are longer, clinician-led, and built around your full health picture.
  • We run diagnostic panels that most practices do not offer as standard.
  • We integrate performance technology, including VASPER, HBOT, red light, and IV therapy, that bridges the gap between medicine and optimization.
  • We track your data over time and adjust your protocol as the numbers change.

We are not a replacement for primary care. We are the layer of clinical depth that standard primary care does not have the time or tools to provide.

How do I get started at Citrin Longevity?

Book a consultation through our website or call the clinic at (424) 228-8850. Your first visit is a comprehensive intake with one of our naturopathic doctors. We review your health history, current symptoms, goals, and any existing lab work to determine where to start and what to prioritize.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit is a full clinical intake, typically 60 minutes. We cover your complete health history, current symptoms, performance goals, sleep, stress, nutrition, and any prior lab work you have had done. Nothing is off the table.

From there, your doctor builds an initial protocol. Which diagnostics to run, which treatments to start, and how to sequence them. You leave with a clear picture of your baseline and a defined next step.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

If you have recent lab work from another provider, bring it or send it ahead of time. Any relevant medical history, imaging, or prior test results help us build a more complete picture faster.

Can I use individual services without a membership?

Yes. Most of our on-site services are available on a per-session basis. Membership is not required to use VASPER, HBOT, red light therapy, or IV infusions. Sauna and cold plunge are available to members only. Members receive a discount on all services plus priority scheduling.

For naturopathic doctor visits and doctor-led protocols, a consultation is required first regardless of membership status.

How many sessions will I need before I notice a difference?

This depends on the service and what you are trying to address. Some people feel a difference after their first VASPER session or IV infusion. Biomarker and hormonal changes take longer, typically 60 to 90 days of consistent protocol before lab numbers reflect meaningful movement.

The honest answer is that optimization is not a one-time event. The protocols at Citrin Longevity are designed to compound over time. Consistency is what produces the results we document.

Do I need a referral to become a patient?

No referral is needed. You can book directly through our website or by calling the clinic. New patients are welcome to start with a consultation and build from there.

What are the membership tiers?

We offer six membership tiers built around different levels of clinical intensity and machine session volume. Every tier includes unlimited sauna and cold plunge.

  • Essentials ($99/mo): Quarterly doctor visit with lab review.
  • Restore ($199/mo): Quarterly doctor visit with lab review, plus 1 monthly IV credit (Myers or Immune).
  • Foundation ($349/mo): Quarterly doctor visit with lab review and VO2 max, RMR, and body composition testing, plus 1 monthly IV credit and 10% off IVs and machines.
  • Performance ($749/mo): Quarterly doctor visit with lab review and VO2 max, RMR, and body composition testing, plus 1 monthly IV credit, 8 VASPER and 4 red light sessions per month, and 15% off IVs and machines.
  • Elevate ($1249/mo): Bi-monthly doctor visit with lab review and VO2 max, RMR, and body composition testing, plus 2 monthly IV credits, 8 VASPER, 4 red light, and 4 HBOT sessions per month, and 20% off IVs and machines.
  • Optimize ($2495/mo): Monthly doctor visit with lab review and VO2 max, RMR, and InBody assessment, plus 4 monthly IV credits from the full premium menu (NAD+ included), 8 HBOT, 8 VASPER, and 8 red light sessions per month, and 25% off IVs and machines.

Each IV credit is valued at $100. Our team can match the right tier to your goals during your tour or Comprehensive Assessment.

Do unused sessions roll over to the next month?

Monthly session allocations reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not roll over. We recommend building a consistent weekly schedule to use your full allocation each month. Our team can help you map out a session cadence that works for your calendar.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my membership tier?

Yes. Members can upgrade their tier at the start of any billing cycle. Contact us at least 5 business days before your renewal date to request a change. Please note that downgrades are not available once a membership tier has been selected.

How does the membership discount work on additional services?

Foundation, Performance, Elevate, and Optimize include a discount on IVs and machine sessions beyond your monthly allocation: 10% at Foundation, 15% at Performance, 20% at Elevate, and 25% at Optimize. The discount is applied automatically to your account when you book.

Is there a minimum commitment period?

Yes. Memberships require a 6-month minimum commitment, after which they continue on a month-to-month basis. We ask for 30 days notice to cancel. Most members stay well beyond that because the results warrant it, not because they are locked in.

Which membership tier should I start with?

It depends on your goals and how frequently you want to use the clinic. Essentials and Restore are built around doctor oversight and recovery basics. Foundation adds quarterly performance testing and a monthly IV credit. Performance and Elevate are designed for members who want consistent machine volume, and Optimize is built for maximum clinical access and full machine volume every month.

Your doctor can recommend a tier after your initial consultation based on what your protocol actually requires.

Does membership include my doctor consultations?

Yes. Every membership tier includes scheduled doctor visits with lab review, and visit frequency increases by tier. Follow-up visits beyond what is included in your tier are available at member pricing. Lab work, prescriptions, and additional diagnostics are billed separately based on what your protocol requires.

What is VASPER?

VASPER incorporates blood flow restriction, cooling technology, and high intensity interval training. During a session, compression cuffs are applied to the arms and legs while you ride a recumbent bike cooled to approximately 42°F. The compression restricts blood flow to the extremities, which produces a significantly higher hormonal response than conventional exercise, specifically human growth hormone (HGH), in a fraction of the time.

A standard session is 21 minutes. The physiological output is comparable to two or more hours of conventional endurance training.

Who is VASPER designed for?

VASPER was originally developed to help athletes and astronauts recover strength and cardiovascular capacity in compressed timeframes. At Citrin Longevity, it serves members across a wide range of profiles:

  • High-performers who want maximum training output without the recovery load of long workouts
  • Members managing hormonal decline, low HGH, or reduced muscle mass
  • Individuals recovering from injury who need to maintain cardiovascular conditioning with reduced joint stress
  • Members over 40 whose HGH production has naturally declined
How often should I use VASPER?

Most protocols call for 2 to 3 sessions per week. At this frequency, the cumulative HGH response and cardiovascular adaptation produce measurable improvements over 4 to 8 weeks. Our Performance, Elevate, and Optimize memberships each include 8 sessions per month, which maps to twice-weekly use.

What does a VASPER session feel like?

The cooled bike surface and ambient temperature make the session feel different from a standard workout. The compression cuffs create pressure on the limbs during the interval phases, and the cold keeps your core temperature regulated throughout. Most people find it more comfortable than a traditional high-intensity interval session. The effort is real, but the heat and discomfort that come with conventional HIIT are largely absent.

Post-session, many members report feeling clear-headed and energized rather than depleted.

Do I need to be fit to use VASPER?

No baseline fitness level is required. VASPER is a controlled interval protocol, and resistance and pace are set based on your current capacity. It scales appropriately whether you are deconditioned or already training at a high level. The Citrin Longevity team will assess your readiness during your intake and adjust the protocol accordingly.

Are there any contraindications for VASPER?

VASPER is not appropriate for individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions, active blood clots, or severe peripheral vascular disease. Your doctor will review your health history and clear you for VASPER before your first session. If you have a pre-existing condition, disclose it fully during your intake so we can determine whether the protocol is appropriate for you.

Can I combine VASPER with HBOT or other treatments on the same day?

Yes, and for many members this is intentional. Doing VASPER before HBOT on the same day is a sequencing that some protocols use to stack the physiological benefit. VASPER generates the stimulus, HBOT accelerates recovery and tissue repair in the same window. Your doctor can advise on sequencing based on your specific protocol goals.

What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing near-pure oxygen inside a pressurized chamber. The increased atmospheric pressure allows oxygen to dissolve directly into the blood plasma, not just the red blood cells, reaching tissues that normal circulation cannot saturate adequately. This oxygen-rich environment accelerates cellular repair, reduces systemic inflammation, supports neurological function, and promotes new blood vessel formation.

Sessions at Citrin Longevity are conducted in a private hard-shell chamber at 1.3 to 2.0 ATA pressure for approximately 60 minutes.

What conditions does HBOT address?

Our members use HBOT across a range of goals:

  • Accelerated recovery from exercise, surgery, or injury
  • Reduction of chronic inflammation
  • Neurological support, including cognitive clarity and brain fog
  • Anti-aging applications, where research has linked HBOT to telomere lengthening at therapeutic doses
  • Support for Lyme disease, post-viral syndromes, and autoimmune conditions
  • Wound healing and tissue repair
Is HBOT safe?

HBOT is a well-established therapeutic modality with a long clinical history. At the pressure levels used in our clinic, it is safe for the vast majority of individuals. The most common side effect is mild ear pressure during pressurization, similar to what you feel on an airplane, and this resolves quickly.

HBOT is not appropriate for individuals with untreated pneumothorax or certain pulmonary conditions. Your doctor will review your health history and clear you before your first session.

What does an HBOT session feel like?

The chamber is comfortable and private. You are seated and comfortably reclined; you will breathe normally while the chamber pressurizes over the first few minutes. You may feel pressure in your ears during this phase, and swallowing or yawning may aid in the discomfort. Once at pressure, most people read, listen to music, or rest. The 60-minute session passes quickly.

Many members report a noticeable boost of energy in the hours following a session.

How many HBOT sessions are needed to see results?

Acute recovery goals may show results in as few as 3 to 5 sessions. For deeper anti-inflammatory, neurological, or anti-aging applications, most research and clinical protocols use 20 to 40 sessions over a defined timeframe. Our Elevate membership includes 4 sessions per month and Optimize includes 8, building cumulative benefit over time.

Can I use HBOT if I am claustrophobic?

Our hard-shell chambers are spacious compared to soft-sided monoplace chambers. Many people who consider themselves claustrophobic find HBOT sessions manageable once they see the chamber. We encourage you to come in for a tour before booking if this is a concern. We will not pressure you into a session that makes you uncomfortable.

Can HBOT be used alongside other treatments?

Yes. HBOT is frequently used as part of a stacked protocol with IV therapy, red light therapy, and VASPER. The sequencing can be optimized based on what you are trying to accomplish. For example, an IV infusion before HBOT delivers nutrients that the oxygen-rich environment can distribute more efficiently. Your doctor will advise on sequencing within your protocol.

What is red light therapy?

Red light therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of light, typically 660nm (red) and 850nm (near-infrared), to stimulate cellular energy production. The light penetrates skin and tissue, where it is absorbed by the mitochondria and converted into ATP. This increased cellular energy drives repair, reduces inflammation, and supports a range of physiological functions from skin quality to deep tissue recovery.

What does red light therapy actually do?

The clinical literature supports its use for:

  • Accelerated muscle recovery and reduced delayed onset soreness
  • Collagen production and skin texture improvement
  • Reduction of systemic and localized inflammation
  • Improved sleep quality through effects on circadian regulation
  • Joint pain and stiffness reduction
  • Thyroid and hormonal support at specific exposure points
  • Mood and cognitive function through serotonin pathway effects
Is red light therapy safe?

Yes. Red and near-infrared light are non-ionizing forms of light. They do not carry enough energy to damage DNA the way UV or ionizing radiation does. At standard therapeutic doses, side effects are rare and, when they occur, are mild and transient, usually temporary warmth or redness at the treatment site. No serious or long-term adverse effects have been documented in clinical trials.

Eye protection is still worn as a precaution since the eyes are more light-sensitive than skin. Daily use is generally well-tolerated, and we screen individually for contraindications like photosensitizing medications, certain skin conditions, or pregnancy.

What does a session feel like?

You lay in the red light bed for approximately 10 to 30 minutes. The light produces a gentle warmth on the skin, nothing intense or uncomfortable. Most members use the time to decompress between other sessions. There is no downtime, no UV exposure, and no preparation required beyond removing clothing over the area being treated.

How often should I do red light therapy?

For most goals, 3 to 5 sessions per week produces the best cumulative result. Daily use is safe and acceptable. Our memberships include 4 to 8 red light sessions per month as part of the protocol stack. The clinical benefit compounds over time. One session shows effect, consistent sessions over 4 to 8 weeks show a meaningful shift in the underlying metrics.

Can I use red light therapy if I have fair or sensitive skin?

Yes. Red and near-infrared light do not produce UV exposure and do not cause sunburn, photosensitivity reactions, or pigmentation changes. Individuals with sensitive skin, rosacea, or light sensitivity generally tolerate red light therapy well. If you have a specific skin condition, your doctor can advise on session duration and positioning.

What IV therapies does Citrin Longevity offer?

Our primary IV protocols are:

  • NAD+: nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, a coenzyme that declines with age and is central to cellular energy production, DNA repair, and neurological function
  • Myers' Cocktail: a high-dose vitamin and mineral infusion including magnesium, B-complex vitamins, and vitamin C
  • Glutathione: the body's master antioxidant, typically added as a push at the end of an infusion session

Additional custom infusion formulas are available based on your clinical protocol.

Why IV instead of supplements?

Oral supplements are subject to digestive absorption, which is variable and often limited, especially for nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, and NAD+ precursors. Intravenous delivery bypasses the digestive system entirely. The nutrients go directly into the bloodstream at near 100% bioavailability, reaching tissues at concentrations that oral dosing cannot replicate.

For certain applications, including NAD+, high-dose vitamin C, and glutathione, IV is the only delivery route that achieves therapeutically meaningful blood concentrations.

What does a NAD+ infusion do?

NAD+ is a coenzyme found in every cell and involved in hundreds of metabolic processes, including energy production, DNA repair, sirtuin activation, and mitochondrial function. It declines naturally with age, by approximately 50% between ages 40 and 60. IV NAD+ replenishes intracellular NAD+ levels rapidly, which many members describe as a noticeable shift in mental clarity, energy, and recovery capacity.

Research has also linked NAD+ restoration to reduced markers of cellular aging, improved mitochondrial density, and neurological repair processes.

How long does an IV infusion take?

Myers' Cocktail and glutathione sessions typically run 30 to 45 minutes. NAD+ infusions run longer, usually 90 minutes to 3 hours depending on dose, because infusing NAD+ too quickly causes transient discomfort including chest tightness and nausea. Slow drip rates minimize this effect. Your doctor will monitor the rate throughout and adjust based on your tolerance.

Are there any side effects?

Most IV sessions are well-tolerated. The most common experiences are:

  • Mild cooling sensation at the IV site as fluids enter
  • Transient warmth or flushing with high-dose magnesium
  • Chest pressure or tingling with rapid NAD+ infusion, resolved by slowing the drip rate

Serious adverse reactions are rare. All infusions are administered by your doctor in a monitored clinical environment.

How often should I get IV therapy?

For general optimization and maintenance, most members do 1 to 2 infusions per month. Members under more intensive protocols often use 3 to 4 per month. Our membership tiers include monthly IV credits to match: 1 with Restore, Foundation, and Performance, 2 with Elevate, and 4 with Optimize.

Can I eat or drink before an IV session?

Yes. It is best to arrive well-hydrated and having eaten a light meal beforehand as it can reduce the likelihood of nausea during the infusion.

What kind of lab testing does Citrin Longevity run?

We run significantly more comprehensive panels than a standard annual physical. Depending on your protocol, testing may include:

  • Full hormonal panels: testosterone (total and free), estradiol, progesterone, DHEA-S, cortisol, IGF-1
  • Advanced thyroid markers: TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, thyroid antibodies
  • Cardiovascular risk: ApoB, Lp(a), hs-CRP, homocysteine, oxidized LDL
  • Metabolic function: fasting insulin, HbA1c, HOMA-IR, glucose
  • Micronutrient panels: magnesium, B12, D3, zinc, ferritin
  • Gut microbiome and GI function panels
  • Heavy metals and environmental toxins
  • VO2 max, RMR, and InBody body composition
How long do lab results take?

Standard blood panels typically return within 5 to 7 business days. Specialized functional panels, such as DUTCH hormone testing, microbiome analysis, and heavy metals, can take 10 to 21 days depending on the lab. Your doctor will schedule a follow-up appointment once results are in to review findings and adjust your protocol accordingly.

Where do I get my lab work done?

Standard blood draws can be done at a Quest Diagnostics location of your choice, and there are multiple locations convenient to West Hollywood. Vibrant Wellness and Boston Heart labs can be completed in-office. Functional panels typically use home collection kits sent directly to you. For members who prefer it, mobile phlebotomy can be arranged. Your doctor will specify exactly what is needed and how to collect it.

Is lab work covered by insurance?

All lab work is cash-based. A select number of carriers (Anthem, Aetna, and United Healthcare) provide coverage for Boston Heart labs. If cost is a concern, your doctor can prioritize the most diagnostically important panels first and expand from there.

Do I need to fast before lab work?

Some tests require fasting. Glucose, fasting insulin, lipid panels, and certain hormone tests are more accurate fasted. Your doctor will specify fasting requirements on your testing instructions. When in doubt, fast for 10 to 12 hours and drink water only before your blood draw.

How often should I retest?

The frequency depends on what is being monitored. For active hormone optimization or treatment protocols, retesting every 30 to 60 days is standard, enough time for the intervention to show measurable change. For general optimization tracking, a comprehensive panel every quarter gives your doctor the longitudinal data needed to assess trajectory and adjust as needed.

What is TRT and who is it for?

Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) is a doctor-managed protocol that restores testosterone to optimal physiological levels in men whose levels have declined below what is needed for full function. Testosterone influences energy, mood, libido, muscle mass, fat metabolism, cognitive clarity, bone density, and cardiovascular health.

TRT is appropriate for men who have confirmed low testosterone on lab testing and symptoms that align, such as fatigue, low drive, body composition changes, mental fog, or reduced recovery. It is not appropriate for men with normal levels seeking supraphysiological enhancement.

How do I know if I need TRT?

The only way to know is through lab testing. A single total testosterone number is not sufficient. We also assess free testosterone, SHBG, LH, FSH, estradiol, and DHEA-S to understand the full hormonal picture. Symptoms matter, but labs tell us where the actual deficiency lies and what the root cause is. Some men with "normal" total testosterone have low free testosterone and experience the same symptoms.

What does TRT treatment look like at Citrin Longevity?

After confirming low testosterone on labs and completing your intake, your doctor designs a protocol. The protocol includes:

  • Baseline comprehensive hormonal panel before starting
  • Doctor-prescribed and monitored dosing
  • Adjunctive therapies as needed (e.g., hCG to preserve testicular function, anastrozole to manage estrogen conversion)
  • Follow-up labs at 30 to 60 days to assess response and adjust
  • Ongoing monitoring every 3 to 6 months once stable
Does TRT affect fertility?

Exogenous testosterone can suppress the body's own testosterone production and reduce sperm count, and this is a well-documented effect. For men who want to preserve fertility while on TRT, adjunctive protocols using hCG or clomiphene can maintain testicular function. If fertility is a current or near-term priority, this must be disclosed during your intake so the protocol is structured appropriately from the start.

What is hormone and gut optimization for women?

We offer comprehensive hormonal assessment and optimization for women across all life stages, including perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause. This includes evaluation of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, thyroid, cortisol, and DHEA. We address the full clinical picture, including the gut-hormone axis, because gut health directly affects how hormones are metabolized and cleared.

Protocols may include bioidentical hormone therapy, nutritional interventions, and targeted supplementation, all doctor-managed and adjusted based on ongoing lab monitoring.
